The John Deere DB120, crafted by Bauer Built Mfg. in Paton, Iowa, is renowned as the largest production planter worldwide since its release in 2009. With a 120 feet (36.5 m) wide tool-bar, it plants 48 rows, each 30 inches (760 mm) apart. This powerhouse can plant 90 to 100 acres per hour at a speed of 5 to 5.5 miles per hour, allowing nearly two sections of land to be planted in a 12-hour day. John Deere boasts that the DB120 is 30% more productive than the 36-row DB90 planter. For transportation, the DB120 folds into five sections and weighs over 20 tons when empty and nearly 24 tons when loaded with seed. Initially released in 2009 with orders for the 2010 season, it retailed at $345,000, with the 2020 base price exceeding $500,000.
