Asteria class - Light Starcruiser
V mod for Space Engineers
description
Asteria class - Light Starcruiser (No Mods + Xbox Friendly)
This is an Xbox and mod.io exclusive release!
-----------------------------------------------------
-=Manufacturer's Notes=-
Based on the hull of the Atalanta, the Asteria class Light Starcruiser removes the large guided missile launcher and heavy armour of the Atalanta, essentially transforming it into what is essentially a heavily armed Dunsworth with an extra layer of light armour and a few more hydrogen thrusters to compensate for the extra weight, allowing it to land and take off from any planets with an atmosphere and a gravity up to 1.20 Earth G's.
The impressive firepower, acceleration and jump range of the Asteria light Starcruiser makes it particularly well suited to commerce raiding and anti-piracy operations, but it can also be found taking part in long range patrols and as an escort leader providing protection for merchant vessels and screening the main body of a military task force.
Be advised that even though the Asteria is particularly well armed, it's lack of heavy armour protection means that it must rely primarily on hit and run attacks against any well armed opponents and to avoid engaging any of the heavier Starcruisers and capital vessels without adequate support.
As with the other Starcruisers being built by Terra Nova Starworks, the Asteria has both Ion and Hydrogen thrusters for propulsion, a double hull design with additional light armour reinforcing specific points on the spacecraft to improve survivability and is equipped with modular weapon mounts, including two double-barrel heavy railgun turrets.
Short range defences come in the form of a variety of Artillery, Assault Cannon, 25mm Gatling and 200mm Missile Turret emplacements, as well as four Firestorm Mk I multi-barrel point defence turrets that can be extremely effective against both enemy combat drones and guided missiles.

*Author's Notes*
I've just recently updated all the Steam and mod.io large grid vessels for Space Engineers to make use of all the new warfare 2 blocks that are now available for both Xbox and PC, so as a special gift for all my amazing subscribers on mod.io (who massively outnumber those on Steam) I've taken the extra time to fulfil a common request that I've have had from many of you over the last few years - and that's to release a more combat orientated version of the original Dunsworth Civilian Starcruiser - or more specifically, one that can fight and yet still take off and land on any of the planets available in Space Engineers.
Like with the other Starcruisers, the self-repair projector is located in the cargo bay, but can be toggled on/off from the C.I.C, so too can the projectors for the 'fake' radiator panels - they're just for aesthetics at the moment as Space Engineers doesn't have heat management in-game, but at least we have something resembling them for all you fellow hard sci-fi fans out there.
The double hulled design offers the vessel slightly more protection against explosive damage than those without, although not as much as it's heavier armoured counterparts.
You can still use the maintenance access doorways to enter the space between the hulls to conduct any emergency repairs, except I've now made it slightly easier to use your jetpack to reach almost all areas of the conveyor network by adding a few more gaps at certain points inside.
I've left the hangar empty so that you can add your own small craft to it, it can comfortably fit an Olympus 207/MS-10 Griffin, plus the Keen default Blue Miner and Constructor, that along with the fact that it comes with an assembler and refinery means you're pretty much self-sufficient right out of the box!
[ Features unique to the Xbox version ]
* All Programmable blocks and their scripts that were used on the PC version have been removed, and instead I've used timer blocks to auto-close all the non-essential doors on the ship every 10 seconds.
* Added another combination of timer blocks for the Hangar Doors, Cargo Elevator and Airlocks, so that they cycle correctly and that the air vents pressurise and depressurise where appropriate, the flashing warning lights and klaxon sounds are just for aesthetics but add a whole lot more immersion.
Enjoy!!
-- Capt. Robertson
Scripts used:
None as the Xbox version doesn't support them so I've used timer blocks instead where possible.
